Friday, October 28th, 2016 – An MoU was signed between IULI and Lufthansa Technical Training represented by the IULI rector and the Lufthansa Technical Training (LTT) Head of Project and Business Development, with Prof. Hamacher (scientific advisor to IULI) as the witness at the IULI Campus, BSD City. Lufthansa Technical Training (LTT) is one of the leading Aircraft Maintenance Training Organizations (AMTO) worldwide. It provides maintenance training programs to meet European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) standards and has offices worldwide, one of which is in Manila, the Philippines.
The aim of the co-operation is to provide IULI aviation students with a qualification in certified basic aircraft maintenance. For this purpose, IULI and LTT will partner to provide a basic training program for 122 days, consisting of 61 theoretical days and 61 practical days. The students can select between a local approved license or an EASA approved license. The training location will be in Manila, Taiwan or Singapore.
Mr. FLorente C. Pena (Head of Projects and Business Development of LTT) explained that the aircraft delivery for the Asia Pacific region is among the highest in the world. The figure is 3,673 for the years 2007-2016 and 3,558 predicted for the years 2017-2026. This is 31% of worldwide aircraft delivery. This number of aircrafts requires more than 100,000 maintenance staff.
Also, at this signing, the Aviation Engineering department of IULI had a guest lecture, attended by all students of Aviation Engineering.
