IULI Student passes the first phase of the ASEAN Youth Ambassador Competition

1 August 2017 – Jessica Natalie, a student from the IULI International Relations department, competed in the ASEAN Youth Ambassador competition on 19 June 2017 as a representative from Banten province. The competition was organized by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and involved students from all parts of Indonesia. There are three phases of the competition; the first phase was an essay; the second phase will be a video presentation and the final phase will be a question and answer session.

Jessica told us, “For the first phase selection, my essay was about ASEAN in general, and, more particularly, about ASEAN’s Master Plan for Connectivity 2025. I also wrote a bit about Indonesia’s position within ASEAN, about the opportunities along with the weaknesses and challenges. I mentioned the three ASEAN pillars: the economy, the socio-cultural situation and political security and compared progress in these areas.”

The first phase result was announced by email on July 17, 2017 and Jessica was one of the top 200 chosen from approximately 740 participants. The next selection phase announcement will be before the 29th of August. Then, in the final phase, the top ten will compete at national level.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed for Jessica!
